Highspire's Waste Water Treatment Plant
The Highspire W.W.T.P. is located at the intersection of Lumber Street and Industrial Road. It serves the entire Borough and portions of Lower Swatara Township. The plant, originally built in 1960 and expanded in 1987, is designed to treat an average of 2.0 million gallons of waste water a day. The Sewer Department is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Borough's Waste Water treatment Plant and 11 miles of sanitary sewer lines.
The Sewer Authority is currently in the construction process of a plant expansion. This work is being done to comply with new EPA regulations governing the cleanup of the Chesapeake Bay. The expansion will include two oxygenation ditches, three new clarifier tanks, several pumping stations, and a new control building. During the construction of the new plant the Compost Facility will be unavailable.
The Highspire Borough mails sewer bills six times a year. If you do not receive a bill, according to the schedule below, please contact our office. Failure to receive your bill does not waive any late fees.
