Building Permits
The Borough's Code Enforcement Officer would like to remind residents and property owners that permits are required to repair, construct, enlarge, alter, or demolish a building or structure; or change the use/occupancy of a building or structure enquiring greater strength, exit, or sanitary provisions; or to change to another use; to install or alter any plumbing, electrical, mechanical equipment or systems. The following is a quick list of items requiring a permit and may include many others. Please check with the Codes/Zoning Department before beginning any work.
*New Construction
*Wooden Decks/Patios
*Roofing
*Additions/Alterations of Electric and Plumbing
*Sidewalks/Driveways
*Sheds
*Remodeling
*Wood/Coal/Pellet Stoves
*Additions/Alterations of Structures
*Chimneys
*Accessory Structures
*Swimming Pools capable of holding 24" or more of water
The intent of the Borough's Building Codes and Zoning laws are to ensure public safety, health and welfare. An application for a permit is to filed with the Code Enforcement Officer and no work shall commence until a permit is issued. The Code Enforcement Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
